You always wanted to grow your own herbs and vegetables but didnâ€™t know how to start?
You would like to grow some herbs but failed with earlier trials and are now afraid to kill more plants?
You have this bag of seeds lying around but no idea how to raise them?
You would like to recycle and make use of all the plastic bottles piling up at home?
You are interested in turning your kitchen scraps in healthy, fertile compost?
Then this workshop is for you!
The workshop covers some gardening fundamentals, like the right soil, pots, light, water and plants. You will learn how to make compost, prepare a potting mix, raise seedlings, prepare pots from recycled plastic bottles and plant some seedlings. Each participant gets to build onion tower to take home.
**For the onion tower please bring a 6l water bottle, for the flower pots any 1l coke, sprite, etc. bottles.**
**If you have any seeds that you would like to grow, please bring them so we can start raising them.**
Please note that the practical part of the workshop will be on container gardening however most of the content of the workshop is applicable for backyard gardens as well.
About the instructor:
Bianca is a German gardening and food enthusiast. She comes from a family with a long history in agriculture and horticulture and grew up between vegetable fields. In Egypt she lived 4 years at the Sekem farm, where she learned about organic agriculture the specific growing conditions in Egypt. Since 2014 she experiments on her own 100qm rooftop Mohandessin.
Her purpose is to reconnect people in the city to nature by educating them about environment, gardening and healthy food and promoting sustainable urban agriculture.
